Thankful

While sitting at home with my roommate, I realized just how thankful I am for our group, Buntain School of Nursing 2010. I think I sometimes get distracted and forget how amazing our class is. My roommate, who goes to the UW, was telling me about some of her classes and professors. One professor frequently swears at them, using the "F" word and "fag" all throughout their class. To me, I cannot believe this is even allowed, or legal for that matter. It was funny comparing our professors, hers who swear at them and ours who pray for us. Not only am I thankful for my professors, but for my classmates as well. I think our cohort is very unique in how close and supportive we are of eachother. I think this is so cool, and I think it is something we should strive to maintain. No cliques or judgments, as well as no competition; this group is amazing. And rare. I love that I feel comfortable going up to any classmate of ours to talk to. Every single one of us was brought here through different circumstances and paths, yet we are all in the same place right now, and for the next 2 years, our paths will coincide with one another. It's important to remember that none of us are in this alone, we're all going through the same thing together, and we're all here in support of each and every person in our class.

Ashley, it is indeed a huge blessing to be enjoying your classmates so much. You all have such an opportunity to support and encourage each other over these two years. Be committed to letting nothing interrupt your group's cohesion and unity! KH

I so agree with you Ashley! I was so surprised at how quickly I felt like our class bonded. Often throughout the past I have felt like I didn't fit in in various situations because I wasn't part of this clique or that clique, but I don't feel like that at all with our class! I feel like everyone cares about each other and supports one another and wants to see all of us succeed in nursing together.... I don't know how we would get through without that all-in-this-together attitude!

Plus, I'm glad for the reminder from your roommate's experiences of how wonderful our professors are. Even when I feel like I don’t understand something or am weak in a skill I should be proficient at, I am not afraid to ask the professors to help me because I know that they really care about us and are here for no other reason than that they believe in us and in serving the Lord through nursing.

Some ask me why I go to a school that is so expensive, but I think the education we are getting is worth every penny!

Thank you for posting this on your blog. I truly feel the same way. It has been a huge blessing to be part of such beautiful class. I love our class as a whole and everyone in it. It has been a joy taking the classes, going through the struggles, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you for being there for me and for the support you have given me. I am truly blessed to have a friend like you as well as the entire nursing class of 2010. =)
